Terms of Service for Tasneef AI

Welcome to Tasneef AI. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Tasneef AI Google Docs™ add-on, website (https://tasneef.io), and associated services (collectively, the “Service”).

By installing, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

Tasneef AI is a Google Docs add-on that allows users to search for and insert Quranic verses and English translations directly into their active document. The Service utilizes third-party artificial intelligence and semantic search technologies to classify search intent and retrieve relevant verses based on meaning.

2. Use of the Service

  • Eligibility: You must have a valid Google account to install and use the Add-on.
  • Permitted Use: You may use the Service solely for personal, academic, or professional document editing within Google Docs.
  • Restrictions: You agree not to:
    • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service.
    • Use the Service to generate or submit automated, bulk, or programmatic queries outside of the provided user interface.
    • Abuse, bypass, or attempt to circumvent the daily usage limits (quotas) placed on AI searches.
    • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or its underlying third-party APIs.

3. Usage Limits and Quotas

To ensure stability and manage API costs, Tasneef AI imposes a daily limit on the number of “AI Searches” a user can perform (currently set to 10 searches per day, resetting at midnight UTC).

  • We reserve the right to modify these limits at any time without prior notice.
  • Exact searches (Arabic text matching) are processed locally and do not consume this daily AI search quota.

4. Accuracy of Information and AI Limitations

Tasneef AI uses advanced artificial intelligence (via Anthropic and OpenAI) to match natural language queries with relevant Quranic verses. While we have implemented strict client-side validation to prevent AI “hallucinations” (invented verses), you acknowledge that:

  • The AI does not generate the Quranic text. It only retrieves it from our pre-compiled dataset.
  • Semantic matching is subjective. The verses returned for a thematic query represent mathematical relevance based on embeddings, not definitive religious rulings or exhaustive scholarly consensus.
  • Verification is required. You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy, context, and appropriateness of any verse or translation before relying on it for academic, religious, or published work.

5. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party platforms to function, including Google (for the add-on environment), Anthropic (intent classification), OpenAI (embeddings), and Pinecone (vector database).

  • Your use of the Add-on is also subject to the Google Workspace Marketplace Terms of Service.
  • We are not responsible for outages, service interruptions, or data inaccuracies caused by these third-party providers.

6. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Our data collection and usage practices are described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described therein, including the transmission of search queries to our third-party AI providers.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its codebase, architecture, and UI design, is the property of Tasneef AI and its developer. The Quranic Arabic text and English translations accessed through the Service belong to their respective public domain or open-source datasets.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPLETELY ACCURATE.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL TASNEEF AI, ITS DEVELOPER, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM (A) YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE THE SERVICE; (B) ANY CONDUCT OR CONTENT OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON THE SERVICE; OR (C) UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, USE, OR ALTERATION OF YOUR TRANSMISSIONS OR CONTENT.

10. Modifications to the Service and Terms

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the Service (or any part thereof) with or without notice. We may also revise these Terms from time to time. The most current version will always be posted at https://tasneef.io/terms. By continuing to access or use the Service after revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.
